The NEW replacement battery is no better than the old one. I still have to recharge the Kindle nearly every day.
However, I was able to take the battery out, lick the connector and relace the battery. I bought the Kindle in June of 2008 and didn't have to replace the battery until January of 2010. My first battery was this brand. This continued until I received the new battery. The only problem that I see is that I have to recharge it about every other day, but I read a lot. When the battery was needing to be replaced I knew it as the Kindle would lock up. But it did give me reading time until the battery arrived. I could have bought a cheaper brand but I knew how this battery worked, so I stuck with it.
The Kindle Battery is a great backup battery. It has long life and is very easy to install. I love my Kindle and wouldn't know what to do without it.
I bought this battery in beginning of January, so I have only been using it for about a month. I did that with my last battery and it lasted a year despite the fact that I used my kindle frequently. It's too early to judge how it performs. I try to charge is frequently rather then let it discharge all the way. The battery is a bit hard to install. I have small fingers and still had some trouble.
My first generation Kindle quit working so I ordeded a new battery, After charging it quit working again right away, so we don't know if it is the battery or charging cord or some other problem. I wish someone could help
